A night latch can be added to doors, mostly entrance doors, to provide additional security.

It consists of three parts; the lock mechanism, the catch and a cylinder lock.

The mechanism features a spring-loaded deadbolt and a thumb turn to allow easy opening and closing from the inside while the cylinder lock allows it to be opened with a key from the outside.
